"I took a total leap of faith and signed up to apply for work as a camp counsellor in the States via the Hopscotch Travel website. I was eventually contacted by Camp Awosting in Connecticut and hired as the season's drama counsellor. I flew to America in June and, after two weeks of staff training, began working as a counsellor. I had a lot of fun playing games with the kids and organizing activities for them, but also developed a stronger sense of independence and responsibility than I had before. I also got in a lot of sightseeing, since I was able to visit both Massachusetts and New York.
