A Guide to Sales Jobs Abroad in Canada
Popular locations
Did you know that 90% of people living in Canada live within 100 miles from the southern border? You can bet all the major cities are here too. Which ones are the best for sales jobs?
Vancouver. For those wanting to spend each day watching the sun set, check out Canada’s best west-coast city, Vancouver, for sales jobs. With walkable neighborhoods, you can easily get around between work, walking along the beaches, and nights on the town getting drinks or food with friends. Vancouver has an amazing culinary scene, with plates full of morning-fresh seafood and Japanese food that is to die for. Although Vancouver has just over a half million people, it still is abundant with all industries of work, especially business and sales.
Toronto. Do you speak another language or two? Toronto is home to over 140 spoken languages, with about half of residents being born outside of Canada. All this cultural diversity paves a solid street for sales. And Toronto is just over a one-hour flight to the big NYC. Cultural happenings tend to die down a little during winter, but landing a sales job in Canada will keep you busy all year long as you prepare for festivals and other adventures yet to come.
Montreal. For those who need arts fueling their everyday live, consider Montreal for a sales job. Canada’s best kept cultural secrets reside here, with an always evolving cuisine scene and social gatherings of all types year-around. Montreal is reverberating with old Europe, but keeping up with the ever-changing times of this fast-paced world. Do you fancy an eclectic and vibrant life? Find sales jobs in Montreal!
Everything else you need to know about sales jobs in Canada
Cost of living + expected salary. Cost of living in Canada compares closely to living in the United States. Canada tends to be a little bit more expensive though, especially for housing and utilities, depending on where you live. Salaries, however, also tend to be a little bit more generous in Canada. Sales jobs are booming in the business world. Whether you work for a retail store or for a international company definitely influences your salary. To help get your move started or to have a little bit of extra spending money when ski season arrives, create a profile with FundMyTravel to fundraise additional money from friends and family for your trip.
Accommodations. When you land a sales job in Canada, you will probably be staying in an apartment. Finding a house is also an option if you can afford it or find some roommates to live with.
Visas. If you are going to be working in anywhere here (did you find a sales job in Canada yet?!) you will definitely need to apply for a work permit. You won’t be able to work here without one. Luckily, getting a work visa isn’t that difficult with all the proper documentation and with enough time planning in advance. Check out the GoAbroad embassy directory for more help finding everything you need with your current citizenship.
Safety. When working abroad in Canada, you can feel at ease a little bit more than usual knowing that you are in an incredibly safe environment. Don’t mistaken this for a free pass to be reckless though. Canada is also highly accepting of queer culture, with gay marriage being legal across the entire country. Though some rural areas may be a little intolerant, majors cities with embrace diverse lifestyles and people with open arms.
GoAbroad’s Inside Scoop
Canada is a little low-key compared to other countries in the world, but don’t let this deter you away from seeking a sales job. Canada has so much to offer when it comes to the natural world and meaningful city life. Working a sales job in Canada will place you right in the center of everything important here.
If you haven’t lived in northern latitudes yet, prepare for highly variable sunshine throughout the year. For some people, seasonal affective disorder is a yearly visitor. Invest in a full spectrum lamp to help navigate darker winters. On the topic of winters, Canada can get a lot colder than what people are used to. Invest in high quality materials and designs for winter clothing; it makes all the difference. It might also be advisable to look into some good hiking and camping gear or snowboarding equipment to fill your weekends with fun.
Those looking for sales jobs won’t be disappointed when adding Canada to their list of places to move to. This beautiful country has so much to offer to those looking for a deep cultural experience that walks the walk.

A dream come true- Thanks to Ashley and the rest of the InterExchange team
August 05, 2026by: Zoe Gatti - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
The IEC Working Holidays process can be daunting when you are first researching it. Ashley Ragus and the rest of the team at InterExchange made the whole process so seamless and easy to understand, from start to finish. Ashley is so supportive, kind, and extremely communicative. We met with her a number of times and she and the rest of the team guided us through every step of the process so we never felt confused. The instructions that InterExchange provided were super clear and easy to follow. Deadlines and triple-checking everything in your application is super important. It's also important to take all of pre-border crossing prep work seriously, and do it right – you will thank yourself later. It's been a dream of ours for a long time to live and work in Canada, and it feels surreal to be experiencing that now - thanks to InterExchange. I highly recommend InterExchange – 10/10 experience. Thank you Ashley and team!

January 29, 2026by: Caleb Cammarata - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
When I first looked into acquiring a IEC Working Holiday visa I as admittedly a little overwhelmed by what seemed like an overload of information and documentation that would be required from me in order to successfully immigrate in Canada. From the very first time we spoke, Ashley Ragus made what felt like a very daunting process at the start feel incredibly seamless and simple by the end. I am so appreciative for her support along the way, and I am looking forward to working with her again when I reapply for 2027. Thanks for everything Ashley, you rock!

So helpful!
September 18, 2023by: Kailey Moser - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I had a fantastic experience! All of my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. The whole team made an overwhelming process very smooth and manageable. The helpful team was absolutely the highlight of the program for sure. I went through the process to live and work in Canada from the United States. I was able to move to a town that I had already been to and had connections in the community. I didn't utilize any of the housing resources but it was nice to know that it was an option.I would highly recommend!

Thank you so much Jen! We are so glad to support your travels.
My experience with Global Work and Travel was fantastic
March 14, 2023by: Tom Fisher - United KingdomMy experience with Global Work and Travel was fantastic, it was very smooth running and I had a great coordinator helping me every step up along the way. Eimear was always patient, friendly and very knowledgeable in her field of work and I could see she clearly had a passion for her job which made it a lot less stressful for me also. Overall I would 100% recommend using this agency and I also would definitely go back to using them again in the future :)
Sooo glad I opted to go with Global Work & Travel
March 14, 2023by: Laura Moir - United Kingdom''Sooo glad I opted to go with Global Work & Travel. They help you every step of the way, any problems I had they were just an email away. I can't Thank Eimear (travel coordinator) enough for her help and support. As this was my first time traveling solo, I didn't feel alone when it came to the important stuff like the paperwork, visa and navigating the flight plan. They provided all the information I needed and even broke it down for me, if I was finding it hard to digest. When it came to it I was sent lots of options of places to apply for and managed to get a job at my 1st choice. So I'm doing a 6 month working holiday in Canada and working at Sunshine Village ski'' We also had orientation today and asked three of the travelers to leave a review on your link so fingers crossed they come through :)

March 06, 2023by: Ruby O'Shea - AustraliaGlobal has been absolutely terrific making the move overseas to Canada smooth and exciting. Both Brianna and Mark are dead set legends and have been so helpful in making every part of the process so much fun! 10/10 recommend!!!! Mark and Global have been nothing but AMAZING during my working holiday so far. My experience with my current job and staff accommodation has been very challenging however that is no reflection on Mark.
The service received today was extremely informationable
March 06, 2023by: John Eardley - EnglandThe service received today was extremely informationable and was an eye opener on what Canada has to offer. Mark my travel coordinator has been extremely helpful, but our orientation organiser Tiare has been extremely helpful and welcoming and has made everyone feel at ease. Mark is a superb coordinator and has helped myself and my travelling companion Elicia really well, on our arrival in Canada he made us feel very welcome and at ease, he showed us many things to do and made sure we got settled in. And throughout the months he has remained in contact with support and information about other available job opportunities around Canada, so i would just love to say how much i appreciate him as a coordinator and as a man, he is lovely and caring.
Working Holiday in Canada
March 02, 2023by: Jordan Desira - AustraliaI’m from Australia & moved to Canada with Global a year ago. It has honestly been everything I’ve wanted & more. I’m here working in one of the most beautiful towns in the world ‘Banff’ and travelling around whenever I want. Global was amazing every step of the way. They provided with me so many options & made the process so easy & enjoyable. I cannot recommend doing a working holiday enough, it allows you to properly experience the country, events, seasons & lifestyle. Not to mention makes it so much easier to travel around. I just got back from Hawaii a day ago! (Would recommend ?) If you are wanting to experience something new & explore the world, then I would encourage you to do the working holiday as the risk are taken out because Global helps you and has your back throughout the entire experience. Cannot recommend the opportunity Global provides! The question is, would you regret doing it, or not doing it? ? Safe Travels! ?
Amazing organization!!!
September 08, 2021by: Tyler McLean - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I just finished the entire process start to finish with InterExchange! I am a US citizen and they helped me get through the Working Holiday program for Canada. They were by far the most helpful, prompt, and knowledgeable organization I found. My primary contact was James Bridge. He did an outstanding job. He helped me navigate through getting this done with all the covid complications, job offer requirements, changes, etc. He was able to answer any and every question I sent his way. He is an amazing employee, and already got back to me right away. I would highly recommend this organization. The cost was 1/4 of everything else I saw. They are in it for the right reasons. James was one of the best employees I have ever had help me with anything. Cheers! Thanks for the help everyone!
Thanks so much Tyler, It's been a pleasure to support you in your plans and I'm glad everything has worked out nicely. We look forward to hearing about your experience in Canada!
Loving Canada so far!
December 03, 2019by: Jaylyn Evans - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I chose to work and live in Moncton NB Canada. The help and guidance I received getting here was great. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help. Moncton is an awesome city. Not too big and not too small. It has everything you need and it’s constantly growing. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice! I still have almost a year left here and I’m excited to take advantage of everything there is here!

Great year working in Canada
December 03, 2019by: Aaron Merullo - United StatesProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I had a great experience with InterExchange. Melissa in New York was so helpful and always picked up the phone when I had a question about my work visa, and the staff in Vancouver was so helpful and friendly when I arrived in Canada. I had the opportunity to manage a restaurant at the 5 star Post Hotel and Spa in the Canadian Rockies. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything as beautiful as those lakes, rivers, and mountains. I feel so fortunate to have been able to spend a year hiking and camping on my days off. InterExchange was always there if I needed them for anything and was able to answer questions about extending my visa after my year had passed. Definitely a great experience and well worth the price to have InterExchange on my side.
My first work/travel abroad program
January 16, 2018by: Rishika JoshiProgram: Work and Travel Canada
Lets start by saying, this was my first experience with the work and travel aboard program with InterExchange. The representatives were super helpful and guided me throughout the process. There were times when I would call to find out about when my work permit would arrive and they never hesitated in answering my questions multiple times. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
Happy to hear that all went smoothly and you found the program to be helpful. Thank you for the review Rishika, and best of luck! ~James from InterExchange
Quebec city life
December 29, 2017by: Jesse Queen - CanadaProgram: Work and Travel Canada
My stay here in Quebec has been the most interesting thing to happen so far in my life. Being immersed into a Francophone community has been very challenging, but rewarding at the same time. My level of French has improved little by little, and the people here are so patient with whatever level of French you speak, as long as your TRY to speak with them. I would have to say that would be the number one key to having fun and getting where you want to go here. Try to speak French, even if you feel vulnerable, stupid, or afraid, and good things will happen. I promise. The food is another thing here. Croissants, baguettes, chocolate, strawberries from Ile d`Orleans and yes the infamous almighty... Poutine. Food is pretty fantastic here, and I highly suggest going to as many markets as possible for the best vegetables and fruit. As for the Interexchange program, I would highly suggest anyone wanting to work/travel in Canada to do your business with them. Very professional and extremely fast at replying to emails! Every time I had any questions, they were attended to within the hour. Very impressed with the overall punctuality and friendliness.
Thanks Jesse! We're glad you found the support to be punctual and effective. That's what we're going for. Let us know if we can help at all moving forward!! ~James from InterExchange
Incredible opportunity through InterExchange
December 28, 2017by: Matthew - CanadaProgram: Work and Travel Canada
Spending some time living and working in a different country has been something I've always been interested in. However, as you may know, it's not as simple as choosing a place to go and packing your bags. You need approval to work in a foreign country and InterExchange makes the whole process quick and painless. The Working Holiday Visa program InterExchange is connected with through the Canadian government is ideal for those young travelers looking to experience something new and different. My experience so far has been fantastic connecting with other travelers and experiencing life in Canada. The hosting organization coordinates many social events to connect with others on the same program and you'll be sure to make connections with those from all over the world with a similar interest in world travel. These events are generally more tailored towards Toronto and Vancouver, however, ad-hoc events in other areas across Canada do occur. I was able to secure a job in my professional field within the first month. It's an opportunity that will greatly support my career goals and diversify my resume with international experience working not only in Canada but also collaborating with our global offices elsewhere across the world. Toronto is where I'm employed and the city has many economical ties globally. It's relatively expensive to live in if you want to be centralized so I chose to answer the cost of living question as n/a as I don't believe Toronto represents rent costs you'll see across the rest of Canada. The staff at InterExchange themselves are very friendly and quick at responding to any questions or problems you may run into along the way.

Thanks Matthew. Well done with the job! Let us know how we can help in the future. We appreciate the great review. ~James from InterExchange
Dream come true
December 21, 2017by: Edith Gray - CanadaProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I came to Canada in late June. I found a job within the first week on an island in the French River in Ontario. I worked there and went swimming, hiking, and fishing daily. After the summer season I headed to Montreal, Quebec for two weeks and stayed with my coworkers from Ontario and went sight seeing. After that my coworkers traveled through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. We stayed in Alberta for 2 weeks and went hiking and sight seeing. Then we traveled to Vancouver Island for a month and now I am living in Whistler, BC. This is has been an experience I will never forget and I plan to use this program to travel the world. Truly a dream come true! It didnt take long at all for me to get the visa and the paperwork and process was super easy and Melissa helped me the whole way. Everyone should try this at least once!

Hi Edith, This all sounds perfect! Let us know when you're ready to embark on your next journey and we'll be there for you. ~James (InterExchange)
Adventures in Toronto
October 24, 2017by: Elizabeth - CanadaProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I've been living Toronto freelancing as a web developer. I love this city! I've also traveled to Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal. Planning more adventures for the winter. InterExchange was amazingly helpful during every step of the application process. They made getting the visa super easy and it didn't even take that long.
Glad to be a part of your adventure and even more glad that things have worked out well for you up north! Thanks for the review Elizabeth! ~James
Once in a lifetime opportunity
October 24, 2017by: araya fehlman - CanadaProgram: Work and Travel Canada
I always knew I wanted to visit Canada, and I'm so thankful a program like InterExchange exists. My time abroad has been spent developing my resume, increasing my cultural awareness, and having the time of my life. Canada has so much to offer and I feel lucky to be here on a work visa. I have to say, the highlight of my time abroad has been Montreal. In fact, I plan to spend the rest of my time abroad here. I found an amazing job at a start up marketing firm, and my commute to work across this gorgeous multi-cultural city is truly a blessing. The cost of living is low and the quality of life is high-- it blows my mind that more people don't think to come here. This city is also the most artistic city I've ever been to, and that's coming from someone who is from Los Angeles. Every corner of every block has either some spectacular street art or a beautiful cathedral that looks straight out of a magazine. The French aspect of this city is to die for... I literally live above a boulangerie that has the best bread I've ever had. I've also learned a lot of French just by walking around town and speaking to the locals often! It's such a lovely place because not only does it have that French European feel, it has the stereotypical friendly Canadian vibe-- which makes being far from home even easier. I love it here, and the only thing I would change is the fact that my visa is only one year long!

Love it! Thanks Araya, for your thoughts. (We love Montreal too!!) As of now, U.S. citizens are allowed to do the program twice, so maybe you'll join us again! ~James
